In the late 1890’s, Japan was undergoing a rapid change from a feudal state to that of a capitalist one. The demand for Samurai swords was dwindling and the blacksmiths were struggling. These changing times gave rise to the “Higonokami” or “short knife”. These knives are now being forged by fifth generation blacksmith Mitsuo Nagao. They are a folding knife with a friction lock and a distinctive thumb lever to prevent accidental closing. They are nice and slim which makes them a perfect little pocket knife for multiple jobs.
This rad little knife is great to have as part of your EDC (everyday carry). It can be used for everything from breaking down boxes to slicing fruit to whittling wood. Take it to work, take it camping, take it everywhere.
